Sponsor a Prayer Book

Temple Sholom has an ongoing need to purchase new prayer books for worship services.

Purchase Games for the Youth Lounge

Our Youth Lounge hosts a variety of activities for children of different ages. Games, such as board games and video games, are used regularly during Temple-sponsored youth programs.

Sponsor High Holiday Flowers

Flower arrangements are placed on the bima and throughout the Temple lobby to enhance the beauty of our High Holiday experience.

Contribute to Project Ezra Senior Luncheon

Seniors from the Lower East Side and local community attend our annual luncheon, which is powered by volunteers as part of our social action initiative. Guests are treated to a delicious meal and an afternoon of entertainment, and are given a Temple Sholom gift bag.

Contribute towards Senior Bingo

B-I-N-G-O! This lively event hosts seniors from our area for dinner, dessert and a fun evening of friendly competition and socializing. Volunteers donate their time to make this evening a success and bingo winners receive decorated prize bags full of goodies.

Sponsor Sukkah Decorating

This annual family program welcomes in the fall festival of Sukkot with arts and craft projects, edible sukkah-making and lunch.

Sponsor Thanksgiving Meals

Each year, our teen volunteers prepare close to 100 Thanksgiving meals for those less fortunate in our area. This program has become a Temple Sholom tradition and is a great opportunity for tikkun olam (repairing the world).

Help underwrite a Congregational Shabbat Dinner

Shabbat dinners help to build community by encouraging congregants to share the experience of Shabbat together.

Sponsor an Erev Shabbat Experience

Erev Shabbat Experiences weave stories, rituals, prayers and songs into a traditional Shabbat dinner that is engaging and interactive for the whole family.

Contribute towards Summer BBQs

These casual dinners on the patio help to keep our community connected during the summer months.

Sponsor Chanukah Programming

Temple Sholom’s Chanukah programming varies from year to year, but always includes latkes and sufganiyot (donuts)! Holiday-themed activities range from the communal lighting of our giant menorah to our festive Chanukah party with facepainting, a make-your-own edible dreidle station and a “Maccabi Challenge” obstacle course.

Sponsor a week of Lunch 'n Learn

Each week, Rabbi Mitch or a special guest teacher leads a thought-provoking discussion. A free kosher lunch is provided.

Help underwrite a PJ Shabbat

Our monthly PJ Shabbats offer children Pre-K and younger (and their families) a lively Shabbat celebration with ruach (spirit), singing, dancing and storytelling led by one of our music specialists. Each PJ Shabbat includes a family-friendly meal, and recognizes the birthdays of that month by giving each child a special birthday book as a gift from Temple Sholom.

Help underwrite Comedy Night

Comedy Night has been a big hit at Temple Sholom with sold-out events in both 2017 and 2018. This cabaret-style show presents a memorable, social evening for adults of all ages.

Contribute towards a Musical Shabbat

Once a month, we welcome in the Sabbath together with musical instruments and song. Special musical guests have included nationally-acclaimed rock musician Sheldon Low, as well as the popular all-female band BANOT.

As part of our yearly programming mission, Temple Sholom strives to bring distinguished speakers to engage the local Jewish community.
