Nursery School
Our nursery school program encourages active involvement, meaningful experimentation and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed which balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.
Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, we treat each child as an individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward a step at a time. We teach love of learning by allowing children to experience their own stage of development and helping them to fell success without pressure.
Knowing that religious identity develops within the early childhood years, we have made our Jewish heritage central to our program and its curriculum. Children learn about themselves and the wonderful richness of their Jewish traditions. We draw from the resources of our very own synagogue, Temple Sholom, Rabbi Hurvitz and Cantor Asa Fradkin.
Special programming includes the Tot Shabbat services. These services enrich the spiritual and religious dimensions of the school. Together, the clergy, faculty, and students celebrate Shabbat and Jewish holidays with fun-filled singing, engaging Bible stories and creative movement throughout the year. We all enjoy our Friday Shabbat services with Rabbi Mitch and Cantor Asa Fradkin.
We teach Jewish values through tzedakah and mitzvot in our classrooms. Our monthly mitzvah program enhances the values presented in the class. Each month, the school collects for a different organization. From the additional funds realized from our weekly challah orders, we donate yearly to “Kids in Crisis”, Greenwich Hospital pediatric wing, Camp Sunbeam and the Greenwich Emergency Ambulance Association.
