Winner of the prestigious Dalhberg Peace Award,
Pastor Dee Dee Coleman, to speak at Temple Sholom
on the Jewish High Holidays
Reverend Coleman is an ardent supporter of the State of Israel and has spoken at the national AIPAC Policy Conference. AIPAC, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, is co-sponsoring this event along with Temple Sholom. (click here to see video of Pastor Coleman's address to AIPAC) She is currently the Pastor of the Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and the first female Pastor in the church's history. She has been active in the ministry since 1963, ordained as a Deacon in 1988 and received full ordination in 1993. Dr. Coleman received the 2007 Edwin T. Dahlberg Peace Award for outstanding work in prison ministry and prisoner reentry. The Dahlberg is the highest award granted by American Baptist Churches-USA and whose first recipient was Dr. Martin Luther King.
Pastor Coleman is a compelling and articulate individual whose message of benevolence and harmony is timely and universal. When asked what her motto is, she simply says, "If I can help somebody along the way, then my living won't be in vain."
